all about chums
What's a chum?
A chum is someone you add to your "chums list" so he or she can send you widgets.
How do I add a chum?
Go to the Add a chum page and enter your friend's chumby username. Then select the channels you want his widgets to go to. Once you click on Save, your chumby username will appear in your friend's list of chums — he can now start sending you widgets.
If i put someone on my chum list, can I send him widgets?
You can't send someone a widget until he puts you on his chum list. Think of it like a party: just because you gave someone an invitation to come to your party doesn't mean you can go to his party unless he's given you an invitation.
How do I send someone a widget?
Tell him to add your chumby username to his chum list. If he doesn't add you, you can't send him widgets. Chums works this way to keep you from receiving unwanted widgets. Imagine getting widgets on your chumby from people you don't know and widgets you don't want to see — that's called "spam" in email!
I've allowed someone to be my chum but I no longer want to get widgets from him. What do I do?
You can go to My Chums and delete that person's name from your list of chums. Or if a little diplomacy is required, you can leave the chum on your list and just choose to "Never add the widget"; whatever this person sends will just be ignored.
How do I remove someone's name from the list of people I can send widgets to?
When someone adds you to his chum list, his name automatically appears on your list of people you can send widgets to. If you know you'll never send this person a widget, you can remove his name from the list. Go to My Chums and remove his name under "Chums you can send to".
