A minimal remote control for MPD (Music Player Daemon). Because the flash player on Chumby can't open arbitrary sockets, a thin python shim is needed to translate between the Widget and MPD. The widget connects to the translator and the translator connects to MPD. The translator CAN be run on the Chumby itself by putting this USB stick image (includes Python for Chumby) on a flash drive, plugging it into the Chumby and booting it up. Alternately you can get just the translator and set it up to run on another linux machine such as the one you're running MPD on. Some linux / chumby hacking familiarity is probably required to make this work. I will add support for viewing and editing play lists in a later version. For bug reports etc. please contact me directly.

Great widget! Will there be a future version of it? The last comment is from july 2009... If there will be a future update, playlist support would be awesome, but a "fast forward" feature would be nice, too! I see, there is a play progress bar, which indicates the current progress of the file played, but i don't think it's interactive(?). I like to hear audio books with tracks of an hour or more and this way i have no chance to switch to the spot where i fell asleep the last night ;-) I can only hear the certain track from the beginning, which may lead to infinite fun with just one book...

spitfireaus, sorry about that, there was a file missing from the "just the translator" archive, it has been fixed now. The streams bug has also been fixed. You just need to download and install the new version of the USB stick image or translator.

When running the translator on my server I see the following error on connection: Error parsing instruction from client: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'crossdomain.xml' Any ideas?

Nice Remote Control. Now I don't have to use my IPhone anymore ;-)
