Thanks for the feedback jimjar, the Baevsky's 'BRO' doodle has been fixed, it seems that very rarely a sketch gets submitted/stored multiple times, in the case of the 'BRO' doodle there were over 9,000 copies of it in the database. I will try to stop this from happening again. As for updating it, I shall be starting that soon, keep your eyes on your chumbart widget :D It should include a full palette, filtering options and a more polished design. No piece of chumbart should be too long too display, as far as I'm aware (apart from the chumby will begin to slow down after too many lines have been drawn). However, if you are having problems with larger pieces of art, let me know more details and I shall look into it. Also, don't forget to leave a link to that blog article here when you write it!

Nice work. Rough round the edges, for sure, but nonethless a great and ground-breaking widget. Seems to be a problem since the recent Chumby firmware update though - I'm just seeing Baevsky's 'BRO' doodle over and over... Can't wait for the next version - would be great to be able to filter Chumbart by username as well as top rated, random and most recent, though. I know you're busy, guys, but I really think you're onto something here - 'social doodling' could become a killer app for us creative-expressive types in this era of touchscreen, connected devices. :) Will blog more about this soon... Incidenally, when you submit a piece of Chumbart that's too long to display, is it deleted or saved somewhere? If the latter, it would also be great to have an ability to retrieve these "missing" pieces.

Merry Otter- Currently, the artwork is displayed completely randomly. There have been a couple of instances where, due to a bug, one piece has been uploaded several times resulting in it appearing way too much. We'll fix both of these bugs with the next version, as well as giving the option to display random art, top rated art, or most recent art. The version that is released currently is a little big quick'n'dirty - the next one will hopefully be slicker and work better. We're currently doing important exams at school though, so it might be a couple of weeks :P (I'm with EverybodyPanic, in case you haven't guessed already :P)

I keep seeing the same artwork over and over again. Do the ratings have anything to do with the frequency an image appears? If so, then it needs to be tempered by how new an item is. I saw one of mine exactly one time and never again, yet I've seen several "blank" drawings appear over and over.

Hello! We're going to overhaul the interface soon, this is likely to include... -a much better looking tool selection screen -a more clear 'artwork uploaded' screen -canvas colour selection -artwork ratings (a percentage maybe? or pos votes minus neg votes...) -possibly better selection of artwork to display (for example you could choose to display newest, highest rated, or random artwork) as per quizengine's suggestion, the artwork will probably be displayed fullscreen, with controls appearing when you tap.

Skip on thumbs down added. Skip and pause buttons added. Time taken to auto skip lengthened. Several bugs fixed. Great idea quizengine, added to todo.

Another idea - many people seem to 'floodfill' to start, to get their preferred background colour. I'm guessing that 'scribbling' takes some room and performance - why not have a 'canvas' colour instead ? Easier ? faster ? less data ?

Hi EverybodyPanic, I like most of your new ideas, but I have a strong feeling that *everything* should be hidden (let the art *shine*) until the screen is tapped, then bring up author / ratings / vote / me draw. Actually I'll revise that, have the author appear (then alpha fade ?) briefly, but still leave voting hands. But hey, it's your creation - you decide. (And -and I mean this- I believe you may have written Chumby a seriously kick-ass killer app - or at least V1.0 of one. If I had written this, and was mentally forecasting the server traffic it's going to generate in weeks and months and years time - well, I'd be chatting to Chumby about sharing or owning that (server) load). Oh and a config is always good too - let the users set their preferred options.

Thanks for the love quizengine! Added several ideas to the to do list, however, I doubt I will be able to improve on the FPS issue - try drawing a big scribble of thin lines - you will notice your chumby slow down quickly, it seems to struggle with drawing lots of smooth, anti-aliased as it is, doubling the FPS will mean double the amount of lines for the same drawing. It will also make the data files transferred to and from our server much larger. BUT I will look into increasing performance :D Also, do you think it is a good idea to add the following? #Displaying the average user rating of a sketch (currently the thumbs up / down is just used to auto-delete poor art) #Hide all of the controls (rate, skip, draw etc) until the screen is tapped, and auto-hide after 5 secs #Add a configuration widget so that you can choose if the widget should show: all art, only highly rated art, only art by you

Still love it. Still got no work done since it appeared... (can I sue you ?). A suggestion - if you up the frame rate we'll get smoother drawing, partic useful when writing text. I know that Virtual Chumby is limited to 12 FPS, but the real device isn't. I've had some movies running at 40 fps... Give it a go ?

I'd love to see a better way to nav, or skip through these faster. Great widget!

This is brilliant. This might be my favorite widget yet.
