This is great! It's the only widget I have on my chumby 5 times.

"umlaute" would be a nice addition. Also, sometimes the pictures are not included although they are in the RSS: http://www.ibood.com/site/de/ibood.xml

Will it be possible for the Chumby RSS Reader to support videos?

bernie66, your rss feed from faz.net works with german Umlauten (äöü) because it is encoded in UTF-8. If it would be encoded using iso-8859-1 (Latin-1), you would not see any Umlaute, as e.g. Gunnar2008 reported and user LeTartar mentioned in a forum post. I tried to write my own RSS reader but could not find a way to read in XMLs using iso-8859-1 encoding. Anyone out there who knows how to do that?

It does work with german Umlauten but it gives me an "unsupported item format" for ex. under http://www.faz.net/s/Rub/Tpl~Epartner~SRss_~Ahomepageticker~E1.xml Same with german google rss feeds (but it shows the pictures)

This widget works fine for me. I put it on my "traffic" channel and use it for an RSS feed of traffic on my routes to work in the morning. No I can find out what the traffic is like right when I wake up.

This does not work well for me. First of all, it does not support the letter æ, ø and å, from Danish. The way that it handles this, is by removing whole words from the rss-feed, making it unreadable. This should be easy to fix? Also, many rss-feeds from newssites are actually links to their articles. It would be great if it was possible to show these links on the chumby...

I've had intermittent success - not sure if cache, sun console, what the issue is - I'm not giving up though b/c RSS is the secret in the sauce, and, if I can have me RSS, then I don't need no fancy widgets (though I really, really like the fancy ones - like Chumby 9000!)

Very useful way to add any site that provides RSS feeds to your Chumby. I'm suing several of them in my channel. Some support images and others don't.

It doesn't seem to support images.
