Static URLs are available for all NWS radar images. Examples: Oklahoma City's NEXRAD radar = http://radar.weather.gov/lite/N0R/TLX_0.png. Animated for the Southern Plains Region = http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/Loop/southplains_loop.gif. It would be easy to program these in to apps, but I'm too lazy. :)

I'm planning to make a real weather radar widget at some point, but I'm very new to flash and this one was easy to do. (It's just a single image file.) Most of the sites with radar viewers are using "DHTML" and such and the source data is often not a simple flat image, so I need to do a little research on what I can and can't use, and learn more flash/actionscript first. I also want to create a better weather advisory notifier.

Ive been looking for a weather radar that shows the animation of map over the period of a few hours. Even better would be one that can zoom into specific regions of the country. On my computer I can get this from Intellicast dot com but I want it on my Chumby! I guess there used to be such a thing here but the sponsor removed it from the service. This is and has been my number one desire from Chumby and the reason I purchased it. So far it hasnt happened. You would be my hero if you make this map animate or even zoom in or show regions !
