description: USB Photo is a widget that provides a photo slide show from images on a local USB stick. This widget requires a script to be installed (simply copy files to USB and reboot chumby - very easy) - details here, hence does not run on virtual chumby. It can be configured for timeout etc. One of the parameters is an image file filter based on chumby grep regular expressions - this could be used for example for only viewing a single directory on the USB stick etc. A full description of grep parameters is included with the script instructions at the link above. Image formats supported are JPG, JPEG, GIF and PNG. Touch the screen to restart the timer (delay) the current photo.

Sorry folks but this app was written for one of the earlier chumby devices. I don't have your hardware platform and am not really supporting the app moving forward. I think that a slideshow should be a standard chumby feature. I am somewhat disappointed in the way the chumby guys work so don't have much incentive to support them. sorry Nigel

I have the exact same issue and hardware as invictus's comment on October 18, 2011. Please help.

I did everything according to the instructions, yet the app begins with "Error loading filelist" and then the black screen with "Loading filelist" stays forever. I have an Insignia 8 with Chumby 8 software on it. This is actually the only feature I miss from the original software - having pictures slideshow as an app. How can I fix this? Thanks!

Is the source available for this app available? I'd like to add more options on "touch" (like move backward, or show photo metadata, etc.).

Hi b.botany - I think I am flattered (:-D) - will try and have a look at these items in Jan. I can probabaly have a flag on the configuration that skips the intro screen but you will still have to wait for the first image to load as depends on speed of chumby / usb stick etc. I think scaling is possible for devices but dont know much about it - will have a look and see what i can do. cheers Nigel

The fatal flaw is the garish blue screen when it starts. If it lost that, this could be my main image driver. Do I need to learn flash programming just to get rid of this malfeature, or is there some configuration way? And in the on-critical realm, how is resizing handled. I lucked into having one of the nifty 600x800 screen models for cheapish. What do I need to do to adapt the software to the resolution that's available on the hardware? Once the blue screen of handholding goes away, it's a great app! Er, widget.

marsradio - its probably the size of the images you are loading - there is a timeout for loading an image. So either use smaller images or try extending the timeout in the configuration on the web site. Cheers Nigel

This app does not work properly. It is constantly saying that it's having problems loading the file - skipping image.

When you go to "details here" you get the message "Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please login and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.", but the login required is to Wordpress. How do you get the script?
