Where In The World(community developer)
|
The "Who's Online" widget for the Chumby. Special Note: Chumbies "reporting" are based on other Chumbians running the widget, not the entire Chumbysphere. The name and country location of your Chumby are displayed. To stop "reporting", change to a channel without the widget, or remove the widget from the channel (up to a 15 minute delay). Also, if you run this widget in "forever" mode you will not see updates. (donate)

Can you turn the UK flag up the right way? It's upside down (and we're not distressed!)

Hi guys. If my chumby gets stolen, can I use this application to report its location?

I guess it would help if I kept the actual domain active. Once it propagates, everything should start working again. Sorry about that. Cheers.

Hi, i dont mind if you keep user data, since you wont use it "against" people. I mind if its corporations who use user data...

Ah cool widget (referred here by Chumbyland, another cool widget, nice job develephant) - interesting to see the other non-US users out there and their location. I also second the idea of a world map situation with city location - but don't keep user data please... - it's much better than the ordered listing of users. Also, it would be good to see users in your own country listed first rather than alphabetically. Thx and please develop a music tuner and metronome widget pls :D (see forum)

The extra icons you see are what part of the day it is where that Chumby is located, represented by a "sun" or "moon" icon. The other is a "speaker" showing if that Chumby is playing music or not.

Under the Name is a yellow icon, and some show a second icon next to that - can anyone tell us what these icons represent? --Marc August 22, 2008 @ 11:10 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'

Thanks for the feedback sirchadwick. I guess my only concern was actually keeping user data. At this point I don't keep anything stored for statistics, etc. just to be transparent for privacy concerns and the like, but if this is something people would enjoy, I would consider working more stats in to the widget. Cheers.

Cool thing! Maybe to get better statistics, you could remember the chumbies you saw and add them as offline to the statistics. Also, columns on a world map (roughly by country) would be very cool. like http://www.infosniper.net/geolocate-visitor-worldmap.php

If anyone from outside of the US feels comfortable sending me their IP address it would be very helpful for testing. Send it to chumby(at)develephant.com with your country name. Thanks!
