What do I need to make my chumby work?

  • Broadband Internet connection. The Internet connection needs to be highspeed, such as cable or DSL. The chumby will not work with a dial-up connection.
  • Wireless router. The chumby is compatible with most wireless routers with the settings of 802.11g/ 802.11b (or mixed). Most routers currently sold offer these settings. Routers that mention 802.11n may work with the chumby as long as they properly support 802.11g or 802.11b.
  • Computer. You need a computer to activate your chumby as well as set up the widgets you want to show on it. Once your chumby is set up, you only need occasional access to a computer if you want to change widgets in your channels.

How do I turn on my chumby?

  1. If there's a plastic covering on the back of your chumby, peel it off.
  2. Plug in the AC adapter. Make sure one end is plugged securely into the back of your chumby and the other end in an electrical outlet.
  3. Press and release the power button on the back of your chumby.

What if my chumby won't turn on?

Make sure the power cord is plugged into the wall and the jack is firmly pushed into the back of your chumby; press and hold the power button on the back of your chumby until you see the screen light up.

What do I have to do after I turn on my chumby?

How do I track an order?

Go to the Chumby Store, sign in, click on Account in the menu bar, and then click on the Details button next to the order.

What should I do if my chumby freezess during the start-up animation?

If your chumby freezes during the start-up animation (or at any other time), press the power button on the back of the chumby to turn it off. Wait a couple seconds and then press the button again to turn it back on. If you see the Special Options screen, select RESTART TO NORMAL OPERATION to restart your chumby in normal mode.

Where can I find the ID for my chumby?

  1. Squeeze the top of your chumby to open the control panel.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Chumby Info and you'll see your chumby ID (include this number if you contact Customer Support).

Why doesn't the ID for my chumby show up in the control panel?

If your chumby ID doesn't appear under Settings > Chumby Info, you'll need to restart your chumby. Press the power button on the back of the chumby to turn it off, wait a couple seconds, and then press it again to turn it back on.
