Special Options Screen back to topics
Why did the Special Options screen appear?
Sometimes the Special Options screen will appear if your chumby detects something unusual during the start-up process. If you didn't force this screen to appear and just want to continue, select to restart your chumby in normal mode.
What is the Special Options screen?
The Special Options screen lets you install updates or restore default settings.
To force this screen to appear:
- Turn your chumby off.
- While touching the screen, turn chumby back on.
- Keep your finger on the touchscreen until you see the screen with "Special Options" on it (shown below). Once you see this screen you can take your finger off the screen.

Restart To Normal Operation
Sometimes the Special Options screen will appear if your chumby detects something unusual during the start-up process. If you didn't force this screen to appear and just want to continue, select this option to restart your chumby in normal mode.
Install Updates
You're given the option to install from the network or a USB flash drive. If you choose a USB flash drive, insert it into either of the two USB ports on the back of your chumby. Important: Make sure nothing is plugged into the other USB port during the update.
Restore Factory Settings
This restores the default settings. This means any settings you've personalized (like time zone, alarms, network connections, etc.) will be reset. This option will not uninstall software updates. Warning! The restore process cannot be undone.
Once a chumby is restored to factory settings, you'll need to repeat the process you did when it was new: calibrate the touchscreen, connect to a network, select a time zone and set the time. However, you will not need to re-activate your chumby.
