encrypted network - WPA

Your chumby detected a wireless network that's probably authenticated using WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK (PSK stands for "pre-shared key"). The chumby does not support WPA or WPA2 Enterprise (EAP).

Follow the instructions below to finish connecting to your wireless network.

Step 1. Choose the type of key encoding.

ASCII is the most common type of network key encoding, so if you're not sure, go ahead and select ASCII. However, if your password is 64 characters in length and only contains the letters A through F and numbers 0 through 9, it's probably hex.

Choose Key Encoding screen

Step 2. Enter the encryption information.

The network key (whether it's a passphrase or hex digits) was determined during the set-up of your access point. If you don't know what it is, you'll need to talk to the person who help you set up your wireless network. Unfortunately, there's no way for us to help you guess on this step (which is good, because your network is supposed to be secure from strangers!).

If you chose ASCII...

WPA ASCII passphrases are a minimum of 8 characters. Tap the left and right arrows on your chumby to scroll through all available characters.

If you chose hex...

WPA hex digits are exactly 64 characters and only use letters A-F and numbers 0-9. If your network key has letters other than A through F, choose ASCII.

Enter the WPA Passphrase screen

Enter the WPA Hex Digits screen

Step 3. Choose the IP allocation method.

Automatic: The majority of home set-ups use this automatic or "dynamic" method in which devices are automatically assigned an IP address upon start-up. (Like a guest at a hotel is assigned a room number for a certain amount of time, each dynamic network is assigned an IP address for a certain amount of time. The fact that the IP address may change is no problem, just as long as your chumby knows this might happen.) Most home networks are set up to use automatic IP allocation.

Manual: Choose this if you're using a static IP address. You'll be prompted to enter the additional required information. If you know very little about your wireless set-up, it's doubtful you'll need to select this option. Details on manual IP allocation.

Step 4. Confirm settings.

The "Confirm settings" screen shows the information for the network you selected (the information shown on the screen will depend on your set-up). Tap OK to continue or Back to select another connection.

Step 5. Finish connection.

If you successfully connect to the network, you'll see the "Network connection succeeded" screen — you're connected and ready to go! Tap Done to finish.
