virtual chumby
A virtual chumby is a chumby that plays on any computer, like the one shown on My Chumby. A virtual chumby plays widgets like a real chumby — except it's doing it in cyberspace!
Each channel you create can be a virtual chumby. There's no limit on the number of widgets that can go into a channel or the number of channels you can create. The one limitation with the virtual chumby is that it won't show certain widgets to protect your privacy. For example, if you have the MySpace widget loaded on a channel, to prevent strangers from accessing the information in your MySpace account, a placeholder is shown on the virtual chumby instead of the active widget. To see the MySpace widget running, you must view it on your chumby.
Why would I want one?
It adds a fun element to any web page. Let friends and family see what you're into.
If you start out with a virtual chumby and then get a real one, you can load any of the channels you've created for the virtual chumby onto your real chumby.
How do I make one?
- Create an account and log in.
- Go to My Chumby > My Channels page.
- Create a channel (or use the Default channel) and add the widgets you want to see.
- Go to My Chumby > Create a virtual chumby and you'll find the channel you created in the dropdown menu under "select a channel."
- Under "choose a size", choose from small, medium or large.
- Copy the code and paste it into your website, blog, social networking page, etc.
